Jerzy Zieliński studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, beginning in sculpture in 1962 before turning to painting under Professors Jan Wodyński and Jan Cybis. He graduated in 1968 and soon became one of the most distinctive voices in Polish art of his generation. In 1965, together with Jan Dobkowski, he founded the Neo-Neo-Neo movement, which advocated egalitarian art and often staged exhibitions without catalogues. These events, frequently resembling artistic happenings, became a hallmark of the group’s activities.
Zieliński went on to develop his unmistakable style, creating multi-layered compositions inspired by biology, marked by bold color contrasts and expressive forms. His works were shown both nationally and internationally, with the Museum of Art in Łódź acquiring two of his pieces. In 2006, his legacy was honored in the exhibition and publication Jerzy Ryszard Zieliński – Time Will Cut Us.
