Conceptual Artist, Representative of Polish Neo-Expressionism

Fogtt graduated from the Poznań State Academy of Fine Arts. He earned his diploma in 1974 under the supervision of Prof. Zdzisław Kępiński and Prof. Magdalena Abakanowicz.

Earlier in his career, he was associated with the New Figuration movement and was a prizewinner at the 8th Zachęta Art Festival in 1979. He won the Grand Prix at the Szczecin Contemporary Polish Painting Festival in 1984 and represented Poland at the Venice Biennale that same year, presenting the environment Misterium czasu (Mystery of Time), created together with Bożena Biskupska.

He is the author of architectural visions such as the Tower of European Unity for Warsaw and the Gate of the World for China. He also painted numerous cycles, including Elements, Possessed by the Element, Genesis, Spherical Paintings, the Qraszewo series, and the monumental The Last Supper, dedicated to Pope John Paul II. His lyrical landscapes from the Brda and Bug regions, constructed with multiple layers of almost pointillist paint application, are reminiscent of Impressionist painting. Furthermore, a significant portion of his more recent oeuvre consists of portraits of artists and friends.

In 2009, he was awarded the Gloria Artis Medal by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. He currently lives and works in Warsaw.
